Developing a next-generation lung cancer registry: Understanding the natural history of the disease through real-world data to support drug development with CROs and biopharma

Enhancing Data Collection, Engageement, and Research Impact

Problem Statement

The GO2 registry was using two legacy technology platform providers for lung cancer research. The existing technology had several limitations, such as the inability to collect real-world data, lack of patient engagement, inability to scale, and high cost. Also, the previous technology providers operated as vendors and were slow to make the required changes as GO2 grew. These issues decreased the scientific value and funding of the registry.

GO2 selected Vibrent to provide solutions to these challenges.

The GO2 Lung Cancer Registry is a nationwide, open-access research platform collecting longitudinal patient-generated data. The registry serves a broad population of lung cancer patients and caregivers world-wide.

GOs’s Key Objectives for the Future State

  • Migrate existing surveys and data from previous providers to a modern platform.

  • Implement baseline, quarterly, and semi-annual surveys tailored to Small Cell and Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer patients.

  • Streamline all aspects of population research and study operations.

  • Create an engaging, consumer-friendly UI for web and mobile apps.

  • Engage with participants through personalized email and SMS outreach to monitor participant data over many years.

  • Provide dashboards, and analytics tool.

  • Create “Research-Ready” data sets for research informatics

Vibrent’s Role in Enabling the Future State
Utilizing Modern Data Technology Stack and Tech Enabled Research Services

  • A plug and play technical architecture to expand capacity for recruitment and real-world data collection in real-time.
  • Used existing tools – Vibrent’s Participant Experience Manager (PXM), Research Cloud (RC), and Research Workbench (RW).
  • Automated import of existing data and surveys improved implementation time to a few hours from what would normally take weeks.
  • Identified and solved many data quality issues in the existing surveys and data of GO2.

Impact Areas

Vibrent rapidly migrated surveys and data of 4,000 participants from previous tech providers to its modern data technology stack while saving cost, improving patient experience, study operations and produced research-ready data sets.
