All of Us Research Program – Enrolling 1 million participants to support Precision Medicine

The Study

The All of Us Research Program is an initiative from the National Institutes of Health seeking one million or more people from across the U.S to share information about their health, habits, and what it’s like where they live. By doing so, it hopes to one day help speed up medical research. By looking for patterns, researchers may learn more about what affects people’s health. Vibrent Health, as the Participant Technology Systems Center, develops websites and mobile apps for the All of Us Research Program. These tools and platforms help participants enroll in the program, share their health information, and receive updates. The center also supports ongoing testing and upgrades to improve participants’ experience, implement innovative tools, and ensure the security of all participant-facing systems.

Through this process, the PTSC has:

  • Supported the enrollment of more than 600,000 participants
  • Enabled participation on web, iOS, and Android devices
  • Provided interactive eConsents for both participant, Electronic Health Record data sharing, and sharing of genomic health related return of results
  • Collected more than 2,000,000 individual surveys
  • Facilitated the collection of electronic health record data from participants
  • Enabled appointment scheduling to facilitate in-person data collection
  • Provided return of information for survey data, genomics return of results, cognitive task data, and EHR data
  • Provided the means for participants to provide saliva and blood samples in remote and in-person structured visits
  • Supported more than 1,000 staff at the more than 120 program enrollment and engagement partners to schedule appointments, track engagement, engage in support activities and provide insights
  • Delivered comprehensive marketing and communications
  • Managed a study system with more than 1,000 meaningful protocol changes over the course of seven years
